No Pressure knitting!

Hooray! Christmas knitting is over! Finally I can pick up a project just for fun. Although as a new years resolution I am going to try and knock off some of my WIP's, so I can have a fresh start this year. I have also marked this year as a de-stash the acrylic year because I much prefer natural fibres. I'll probably keep just enough for fun baby projects and toys for the kids. E-Bay here I come! I'd say about 400-500 balls of acrylic to sell. On to more socks. DH's are finally done. I grafted the toe of the last one last night. This time I didn't suffer from Second Sock Syndrome! The Patons Kroy was awesome to knit up. Everyone is always impressed thinking I actually made up the stripe pattern. (hee hee)...Ya right! Off to a cup of coffee and my knitting. SHHHHHHHHH the babies are sleeping. ;-)

Hilarious

OK ...so I got a couple of Christmas gifts early this year, and I have to say I scored. Mom got me a beautiful quilt rack which will be prominently displayed in my kitchen(love it) and I was also thrilled to recieve a beautiful down filled baby blue sporty winter coat. Does mom know me or what? My lovely and beautiful sister Karen bought me a book. I love books. Especially books that were actually on my wish list. I have to tell you that I have already finished the book...on my long trip back home from Ottawa. Yarn Harlot is hilarious. And no....my husband does not know why I could get so excited about reading a book about knitting, and the life stories that go along with it. "What are you laughing at" he would say as he sped down highway 17 at alarming speeds( which is why I read or knit in the car in the first place..distraction is good medicine for paranoia). Every page was a fantastic story which much parallells my own life. Kids, knitting, no time to knit because of the "TAKE". I could go on and on, but the bottom line is....buy this book ..read this book...it was the best read I have had in a while(even if it did only take me 4 hours). Canadian Knitters Rock!!!.. You go Steph!

Me and My Abby

We've been visiting with my mom this week in Ottawa and we got a few great pics...Here's one of my daughter Abby and I. I've been knitting some socks this week as they are a great portable project. I hope to have some photos soon of the work in progress. We are headed home on Friday so I will have more time to work on them in the car. Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends. Posted by Picasa

Sunday, November 13

OK so I've been really neglecting my groups, rings and blog for the last few months and I feel really bad. I hope you will all take me back! Pregnancy, giving birth to a preemie and dealing with 4 kids under 10 has been taking it's toll. Not to mention we had computer issues all summer, (but that's a whole other page). I have missed you all. As for knitting, I am finally able to knit again without wanting to hurl. Hubby asked me today to knit him a hat for work. (he works in a hockey arena). He said his ears have been freezing. So that is what I worked on today. As well as a pair of socks that are destined to be given for Christmas. I'll post some pics as soon as they are done. I will however post a pic of my full of beans Abby who is becoming quite the little tirant. Learning to walk does that I guess. I couldn't help but smile when I saw her face. Hope it makes you smile too.

I almost forgot! Leah wins the Contest!

With her guess of Boy and a due date of NOV 29 she was the closest. My due date actually was NOVEMBER 12th and yes it was a boy.

I'm BACK! YEEE HAW!

Finally after months of no computer, I'm back. Safe and sound. I must announce also that I gave birth to a beautiful, although very premature baby boy on the 13th of September. He was 10 weeks early, (4lbs 3oz) but he is finally home. It is crazy around here now with the four kiddos but I love every minute of it. Missed everyone. Hope to chat with you all soon.

Neglectful Me

Well unfortunately I've been so sick the last few days, and exausted beyond belief that I have really neglected blogging, and knitting alike. It is everything for me to drag my sorry butt out of bed this week. But.. in a moment of periodic wellness here I am. Still alive and kicking. The guesses have been rolling in for my little contest, and I'm finding it a hoot to read all of them. So far the concencus has leaned strongly towards a boy........I guess we'll see!! I'm just as anxious to find out myself. I do however have a closer idea as to the due date, but I'll keep that a secret for just a little longer until I get my ultrasound. It's looking like it will be about the first week of May or so. I'll keep y'all posted. I did manage to start a baby blanket this week, but only managed a few rows because knitting is still making me nautious. GASP! The Clapotis has been sitting for a week or so, but I hope to pick it up again in the next couple of days. I have come up with a couple of cool prizes for the contest winner one of which is a set of handmade 10k goldplate stitch markers, as well as some yummy stash from knitpicks. Hope you all had a great weekend. Everyone knit a row or two for me...I hope this sickness subsides soon...I don't know how long I can handle not knitting. Happy Wednesday!!!

Friday, April 1

Thanks a bunch!

I just want everyone to know I really appreciate all the well wishes and suggestions to tame my sick tummy. It really is hard to knit when doing it makes me nautious. Ginger tea really does work! So does sniffing newspaper(kinda) the only problem with it is the un-appealing smell. I did manage one repeat on my clapotis this week, but that's about it. I think some little baby things are in order...AGAIN!! I thought I was done with the baby knitting, guess not. Only problem is...we have no clue if it's a boy or a girl. I have boy feelings, but hubby thinks it's another girl! A girl would be great. Then we'd have two of each! It would save alot of bedroom headaches, since we only have three bedrooms, and the boys share now. Maybe I should have a contest to guess the birthdate, and the sex of the baby. HMMMM I think I could set that up. Surprises for the winner! We will be finding out the sex by ultrasound just to make life a little easier, so I should know in a month or two the answers. OK it's official, there's a contest. Leave a comment and I'll keep track. The closest to the predicted birthdate, and the correct sex wins. In case of a tie, I'll come up with another question for those who tied. Ahh some entertainement for me. I can't wait to read all the guesses. I will give one hint....I have no clue when I concieved, although I should be due either in November or December.
Have fun. Knit lots. Happy Friday!!!!!

Another Bun In the Oven

Well...as the title suggests, and as my suspicions were correct, we have another little life to expect in December. Not exactly planned, but loved just the same. My daughter is only 7 months old, so this came as quite a suprise to us! God only gives us as much as we can handle I suppose, so we are rolling with the punches. Just think of all the baby knitting I can do ! I guess this solves my not wanting to go back to work situation as well. For some reason though, this is the sickest I have ever felt with any of my pregnancies. Anyone have any natural home remedies for 24 hour a day sickness? Other than soda crackers...(they make me gag even more.)I haven't done much knitting this week because it makes me feel nautious, that better pass soon cause I don't know how long my hands will survive without picking up the needles.. Happy Tuesday everyone!

Easter Shmeaster

Usually Easter is pretty big around my house. This year it just wasn't. I was kind of dissapointed because Marc had to work every day this week, good Friday through today. So much for my big plans. If it isn't me putting on dinner usually you can be sure my mom is, or even the in-laws, but not this year, mom is in Dominican Republic, and MIL had no intention of doing anything special at all. I wasn't about to cook a big dinner for four of us, sooo..it was pretty quiet. Maybe next year I guess. I did manage to make an appearance at church on Friday though, should have waited until Sunday mass. Friday's was realllly long...the stations of the cross etc...etc.... OK the bitch session is over, as for knitting...I did manage to get a few rows in on Clapotis this weekend, and I started a summer shawl with some funky ladder yarn. Not sure what brand because it came in one of those mill end bags from WALLY's that are $4.95. There was tons of it though..Off to tame the chocolate crazed monsters now! Happy Easter Monday all!

Wow that looks bright!

This one is awful bright! Posted by Hello
Well fortunately for me the colour really isn't that bright! The camera played some tricks on me. However it does show the slow progress I've made on little clapotis here. I must admit I haven't done much knitting this week. Been feeling kinda poopy, I keep telling Marc that I better not be pregnant again! He was supposed to get fixed 2 months ago, but he keeps chickening out. We're pretty careful, but that's how I've been feeling. Nautious, sleepy ick ick ick!! I guess we'll see next week! Anyhoo...I plan on knitting tonight since my tummy problems have seem to have subsided for now. Oh yeah... The SFH( Sweater from you know where) is DONE!!! only the arms to seam! YAHOOO!!! On to bigger and better things. Happy Easter weekend everyone. Play safe.

A couple more pics of Capotis in progress! Posted by Hello

Finally some Clapotis photos! Posted by Hello
Well this isn't exactly the one I wanted to show, but it does show my pretty stitch-markers that I just had to make for this yummy project! If I can get Hello to stop being so tempermental, perhaps I could post the real photos I had intended on!

What is a Timmys!!!

Well my dear Kitt, you must not be Canadian! Either that, or I have just developped a weird name for the best coffee on this side of the planet.
TIM HORTONS!!! Please let me know if you have never had one, I will send you a can. This is one coffee experience you just can't live without! I simply can't fully open my eyes until I have a warm Timmy's in my tummy. It makes all the bad things going on in your life go away...for an hour or so at least! As for my road trip, I managed to pick up a couple of things, but not near as much as I thought I would. Most of it was fabric for a quilting project I'm working on, but I did manage to score some more Patons Classic Merino in PINK!! YAY!! I had boutght out my LYS of all of the pink shades they had. So I had to travel to get more. Unfortunately, since I did all of the driving yesterday, I didn't get any knitting done. Usually when DH drives, I sit and knit furiously cause I hate the way he drives. It keeps my mind off of the roads. I must go to feed the monsters. Happy Post St Paddy's Day everyone, Hope there are no hang-overs lingering....and if there is, go get yourself a TIMMY'S!

Wednesday, March 16

When do we get rid of this cold?

This morning I woke up and decided to go and get me a Timmy's. It was -15! almost froze my pinkies off! I'm about ready to get rid of winter! Even if it does mean my maternity leave is ending soon. Did I mention that before? Probably a hundred times...It just seems to be stressing me out alot. I don't want to go back to work! On a brighter note, I am going on a "stash enhancing roadtrip" with my bud Annik. We're hitting every LYS and quilt shop from here to pembroke, so about a 4 hour corridor. We've been wanting to do this for a while, but the roads haven't been the best. Sunny skies are in the forecast for tommorow, so it's a go! Yay. Wish me good yarn Karma! I am often an impulse buyer, and sometimes ugly stuff jumps into my basket, and it sits for a long time. I shouldn't say ugly, ( because no yarn is ugly) but sometimes the lighting in shops is much different than at home, and I wind up with stuff that is "just not right" soo.. I will try to use discretion tommorrow. My little bunny is summoning me for supper, so I'm off to feed the babes. Happy Wednesday!

Road Trip

I've been MIA for a couple of days cause I went to visit my mom in Ottawa. Imagine...two whole days kid and hubby free! I almost didn't know what to do with myself. So...I did the LYS tour. I picked up some funky ladder yarn in copper, black and orange, as well as some baby yarn in variegated purples yellows and pinks so that my little knitting man(Shane my 8 year old) could start a baby blanket for his new sister. I'm so proud of him for wanting to take up knitting. He actually joined the knitting club at his school with a few other boys. What brave wonderful kids! Any hoo.. it was a wonderful, and well deseerved break. The clapotis is about half done, and I can't wait to see the finished product. I'll keep everyone posted! Happy Sunday!

Cast on a clapotis!

OK well all this chat about wanting to make a clapotis lately finally got to me, and I cast on last night. Not with my Kool-aidies though, with a hot pink DK weight wool from Jagger Spun. I really like how it's knitting up right now, I'm about 3/4 of the way through "Section 2" of the increases. I can't wait to start dropping stitches!. In my 25 or so years knitting I have never dropped stitches on purpose, and the whole idea is really exciting and intriguing to me. Wish me luck! I'll post a pic when there is a substantial amount to show. Have a great Wednseday everyone!

Sunday, March 6

This was an attempt at making a variegated yarn. It turned out pretty well for a first try. We used spray bottles for each color and tried not to mix them to much. This one is Cherry, Grape, and blue "Berry Blast".
This photo really doesn't do it much justice, it's actually a really lovely raspberry, with hints of blue and grape.
I feel a clapotis calling my name for this stuff!
Maybe I should finish all my other stuff first....
Blue berry blast Cherry and Grape! Posted by Hello
Joshua(my 4 yr old) and I decided to do some koolaid dying last night. This turned out pretty well I think! He had a blast, and the whole house smelled great. This skein was our Grape with a little Blue Berry blast thrown in. HMMM now what should I make with this yummy stuff? Any suggestions?

Did I say knitting was fun?

Well, as many of you may not know, I've been on maternity leave since July, (and work wants me back by July 3rd this summer) I am really dreading this. I love my kids so much, and I never knew how much fun it was to be at home with them all the time. I've grown really attached(overly some might say) to my new daughter. She is a girl of course(my first). I can't bear the thought of having to leave her to go to work. I have two boys as well(4 and 8) who I adore also. But I guess since this is the last baby I will be having I just really want to enjoy her while she's young. I was the work-a-holic of the family, and I never thought anything of it until now. I have nightmares about going back to work. Anyways, in an effort to try and jumpstart a home career that involved knitting, I designed a few items, and put them for sale. All of a sudden, orders are booming for my "Baby's Got Back Backpack" and I can't knit fast enough! I realized that deadlines suck! I asked for it I guess. My hope is that if all this works out, I can run a succesful at home business so I can stay home with my princess. So for the next little while, knitting isn't going to be fun. I'll just have to work on other things in between to keep it interesting I guess. Off to cast on another "BGBB" Ta Ta for now.

Thanks

Thankyou to Kathy who "showed me the light" when it comes to publishing my favorite blogs in my sidebar. I have finally done it! not quite done adding ALL the blogs I like to read, but it's getting there. I cannot tell you how much frustration has been lifted off my brain!
As far as knitting goes, the "SFH"( Sweater from H%## of you know what I mean) is almost done. Need to start the collar and then sew up the puppy. I'll be sure to add a pic when it's done. Gotta jet will bbl.

I Cast on again...I know I know...

Well, I cast on another project last night ( some really cute ribbed ankle socks). I decided to try my "Sock it to me Esprit" in orchid pink. I suppose I could add this as another "think pink" project. I have to say I really like this yarn. It is cotton with a bit of elastic, and it works up really nicely for this pattern. I'll be sure to post a pic as soon as I'm done. Happy Monday!

I'm such a dum dum lol

Hate to admit it, but someone s computer literate as me should know a little more about HTML and blogging. I really want to add a column on my blog for the blogs I like to read, as well as be able to have the Buttons show up properly, but I can't seem to figure it out. HELP!! If anyone out there in this big wide world can steer me the right direction I would be most appreciative. As for knitting, tonight is finish up WIP's night for me. I just got 4 balls of Pink "Sock It To Me" from www.elann.com (Lookie lookie I posted an inline link properly! YAY) Have to say I love them. Well off to settle in for the night. HAPPY WEEKEND everyone!

Back View of Baby's Got Back Backpack

The bag felted like a dream! I have to say I was really pleased with the turnout.

Back View Posted by Hello

Yay! I got the camera back!!

Well, as promised here is the pic of the finished bag!
The lighting is not the best, but at least I've got my camera back. Today is a crappy poo dreary day. I have a killer caffeine deprived headache, and the baby is grumpy, but I guess if I pick up the sticks I'll start to feel better. Catch Y'all later

Moving right along

Getting some stuff done this weekend, only one arm left on the cabled sweater from HE double hockey sticks! I should have worked both arms at the same time. Now I know better. I just wasn't sure if they would both fit on the needles together. Now I know that they will. WAAAAA! I still don't have my digital camera back yet. That especially sucks since I have completed a bunch of stuff that I can't post pics for yet. I think I'll walk over there later today and scoop it back. I finished one Think pink project( the felted baby backpack) a pair of felted baby ballet slippers to match, and some cashmere socks. I promise that the moment I get a hold of my camera I'll have a photo shoot.

Update on the booga bag

Well, it turned out great and I've recieved many compliments, but I have yet to post a pic cause "someone" aka my sister in law has hijacked my digi cam. Argghhh! So as soon as I capture it back today I'll post some more pics. Pink baby hoodie is moving along quite nicely, as is Marc's sweate. Only 1 arm to go! YAY!

Booga Bag

So last night I got tired of knitting my DH's cabled sweater and decided I should cast on yet another project. I have to admit I have been ripping through my UFO's lately and I only have 3 things on the needles at the moment (pretty darn good for me!) So... I felt I deserved a fun project to take me away from the evil cabled sweater that is beginning to bore me. The Booga Bag was it. I had some yummy pumpkin , chocolate, and raspberry colored peruvian chunky calling my name, and I felt the need to beat a project into felted submission. I cast on at 9pm and now it's done! It's drying as I type this. I have to tell ya this is a really fun project to knit. It went really quick, and has impressive results at the end. Glad I did it. So now back to the evil cabled thing in my basket. Oh yeah, The Think Pink KAL started yesterday and I've decided on two things, the Bernat Softee Baby jacket, and a felted tri-color backpack that will be designed by me to lug around my little Abby's baby stuffies. I'll keep y'all posted on the progress. Hope to have some pics up of the Booga bag as soon as it dries. Nighty night.

Sunday, February 6

Quick someone think pink!

I need to come up with a yummy pink project for the think pink KAL ! I'm thinking something for my Abbygayle, but ya know I don't have enough pink things for myself yet either! HMMMMM do I hear my pink baby cashmere calling me? We'll have to see. Please if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them!

It Felted!

I have to say I am quite pleased with myself! After about 10 rinses of hot and cold this darn thing finally felted. Perhaps not quite as much as I would have liked, but it felted nonetheless. The picture really doesn't do it much justice though, It is Peruvian Highland wool in sage green and natural as well as Belle Valee Wools Plum colour. Bag after felting

My Knitty "Wavy" scarf

Well here it is! I finally finished it. Really fun to knit, but it took alot longer than the average scarf. It is so soft and yummy! Really warm around the neck too. Hopefully Knitty continues to put great patterns like this one on their site!

Well here is the little floppy thing before felting! I was praying it would felt cause I really loved the bag.

A Bit About Me

I'm Sarah, lover of knitting and all things crafty. I drive my hubby nuts with all of this but he takes it all pretty well. Will try to put up some pics of my works in progress soon! Come back soon!
